What did soldiers need most in wartime? Water. And how did they pass it among themselves? With canteens. A new bottle from Buchanan’s takes its cue from that shape.
The Scottish whisky brand Buchanan’s believes whisky is about connection. The water soldiers shared was a “gesture of generosity.” And what else deserves to be shared? The water of life.

What are the tasting notes of Buchanan’s Green Seal?

A new bottle from Buchanan’s has surfaced at The Bar under the name Green Seal. It stands out with its green hue—and as for the bottle’s shape, you now know the story behind it.
The tasting notes for this blend are as follows:
  • Nose: Citrus, milk chocolate, creamy vanilla, and woody notes.
  • Palate: Zesty citrus wrapped in creamy milk chocolate with layers of lush vanilla, balanced by warm baking spices and dried fruit.
No official word on the finish. The Bar suggests the best way to enjoy it: “Best served over one large ice cube.” (Don’t shoot the messenger.)
The brand’s whiskies are known for their smooth character and easy-drinking style. Which ties neatly back to the soldiers’ story: this water of life is made to be shared with ease.

A rare single malt whisky

There’s something else noteworthy about this new bottle. Elias Bruzual writes on his Instagram that the heart of the blend contains a “unique, never-before-released single malt from Glen Elgin Distillery.”
Master Blender Craig Wallace used an experimental wine yeast, resulting in an innovative expression brimming with vibrant tropical fruit notes that form the core of the whisky. The rare single malt inside—never previously released—draws inspiration from Latin American flavors.
