Wolfburn unveils Christmas in liquid form
Christmas is right around the corner, and distilleries are easing into the season. For instance, Saltire Rare Malt has already revealed a special Christmas whisky. Now
Wolfburn Distillery is joining in with something festive, too. Not one, but two releases.
The distillery has unveiled two limited editions, both 12 years old. One bottle holds 70 centilitres of the nectar of the gods, the other half that amount. But what kind of whiskies are they?
Which whiskies has Wolfburn released for Christmas 2025?
Wolfburn has announced the following two bottles for the holidays:
What is the Wolfburn Partridge in a Pear Tree Christmas Whisky?
The first of the duo is Partridge in a Pear Tree—a nod to the softer side of winter. This whisky spent twelve years maturing in first-fill Oloroso butts and ex-bourbon oak casks, developing a rich, sweet profile.
Here are the tasting notes:
- Nose: Rich layers of dried fruit, pear, and vanilla, with a gentle hint of oak and sherry warmth.
- Palate: Full-bodied notes of raisins, honey, and a touch of spice, carried by creamy vanilla and light oak.
- Finish: Long and warming, with lingering sherry tones and subtle hints of clove and wood.
What is the Wolfburn Two Turtle Doves 12 Year Old Whisky?
With Two Turtle Doves, Wolfburn Distillery tips its hat to The Twelve Days of Christmas. This whisky is elegant and layered, with a slightly drier character than its counterpart.
The 12-year-old single malt matured in second-fill Oloroso sherry casks and ex-bourbon barrels before bottling at 46% alcohol by volume (ABV). Tasting notes for this Scotch whisky:
- Nose: Floral and sweet with notes of honey, toffee, and a wisp of peat smoke.
- Palate: Dried fruit and caramel, with soft vanilla from the bourbon cask.
- Finish: Medium to long, with warm sherry notes, gentle smoke, and sweet vanilla.
