Ever tried whisky from the Himalayas? You might be able to very soon. London-based Himmaleh Spirits has launched the Himalayan Cask Program, a global cask initiative for a single malt whisky from the Indian Himalayas.
Himmaleh whisky is crafted in the Kumaon region, a short distance from Delhi, where locally grown six-row barley meets glacier-fed water from pristine mountain springs.
It’s then distilled in a series of small batches and matured in ex-bourbon casks, all in the foothills of the Himalayan mountains.
From grain to glass: fully in-house
Himmaleh produces and bottles its whisky entirely in-house. The brand’s whisky matures between 3 and 8 years, with each cask yielding roughly 168 to 285 bottles. These limited runs underscore the exclusive nature of the cask program now on offer.
The program is designed for collectors seeking uniqueness and meaning. Each cask represents a direct connection to the Himalayas and is brought to life in collaboration with local farmers, foragers, and artisans. It’s not just a luxury product. It’s a celebration of regional identity. And perhaps the first Himalayan whisky you’ll ever raise to your lips.
Co-founder Samarth Prasad emphasizes that modern luxury buyers increasingly choose experiences that can’t be replicated. Owning a cask within this program means joining a wider story of craft, community, and culture.
Exclusive access and international rollout
While the cask program is open in principle to anyone, the distillery is focused on the luxury buyer who wants more than bottles on a shelf. So says Himmaleh Spirits co-founder, Samarth Prasad.
'This isn’t about just acquiring another limited release. It’s about being part of a deeper story, one that is steeped in craft, community, and culture.'
- Samarth PrasadOwners receive access to VIP distillery visits for up to 4 guests, private entry to spaces such as the Cask Owners’ Lounge, ceremonial tastings at bottling, and invitations to exclusive events.
Participants in the program also benefit from preferential pricing and early access to future single-cask releases.
Choose your own whisky flavor profile
When reserving, interested whisky lovers can work with the master distiller to select their desired flavor profile, making the whisky even more personal. The cost per cask has not been disclosed. More information about the program can be found on
the distillery’s website.
