The Macallan James Bond Diamonds Are Forever 55th Anniversary
Single Malt Whisky. In this article, we take a closer look at this remarkable release.
An iconic Bond moment, captured in whisky
Diamonds Are Forever marks a pivotal moment in Bond history. After a brief hiatus, Sean Connery returned in 1971 for one last outing as 007. The film exploded at the box office and is regarded as one of the most iconic Bond films of all time.
The Macallan now bottles that icon in a special Scotch single malt, where diamonds and liquid gold meet the drink of the gods.
There’s little known about the packaging so far, except for one image of it, but plenty has surfaced online about the liquid itself.
A James Bond whisky from (2)007
The label was registered some time ago in the online
TTB database. It reveals that the spirit for this James Bond whisky was distilled in a perfectly fitting year: 2007, a playful nod to ‘007’.
The label also confirms the whisky is bottled at 45.5 percent alcohol by volume (ABV) after 18 years of maturation. That aging took place in a distinctive cask combination that delivers a notable first.
Unique maturation: a first for The Macallan
The Macallan Diamonds Are Forever whisky is the first official The Macallan to be matured in red wine casks. This world-first for the distillery is certain to shape the character of the single malt.
Alongside the red wine casks, the Scotch distillery also used sherry seasoned casks from Jerez, a hallmark of
The Macallan.
