Mac-Talla Lighthouse 2025 as the first community release

The Mac-Talla Lighthouse Series has welcomed a new edition created based on community feedback. Morrison Scotch Whisky Distillers, amongst others, invited Vin et Whisky from Paris, 3 Greek St from London, The Black Cat from Edinburgh, and Tara Spirits from Munich to help in determining which whisky ended up bottled.

Master Distiller at Morrison, Graeme Mackeddie, explains how crucial it was for this second edition from the Islay brand to be chosen by the community, aligning with the theme of the 2025 whisky release— the people behind the whisky.

The new whisky had the privilege of maturing in first-fill bourbon, Oloroso, Pedro Ximénez, and Bordeaux barrels, before it was married and given a finish in virgin American Oak barrels.

What does the Mac-Talla Lighthouse 2025 whisky taste like?

Here are the tasting notes for the whisky:

Nose: Sticky toffee, milk chocolate, dried fruit, and spice.
Palate: Creamy caramel in chocolate, with soft peat smoke and wood spices.
Finish: Toasted coconut and a long, balanced warmth.
