A 20-year-old bourbon is incredibly mature
Master Distiller Dan McKee and Master of Maturation Andrea Wilson have confirmed the bourbon will return at the end of this year.
Andrea Wilson, Michter’s Master of Maturation, explains that with a bourbon this old, everything comes down to the details—and getting those right is far from easy. Distillery President Joseph J. Magliocco agrees.
'By law, bourbon must be aged in a brand-new barrel, which imparts flavor, color, and oak character faster than a used cask. It’s an exceptionally difficult undertaking to mature a whiskey that still tastes wonderful after twenty years in new oak. It requires a skillful balance of art and science. I’m confident people will appreciate the thoughtful and conscientious work of our production team when they taste this exceptional whiskey.'
