This New Bourbon Honors Freedom 250 in America

Horse Soldier Bourbon, an award-winning and veteran-managed beverage brand, which owns the slogan “Live Legendary,” has launched a new whiskey you don't want to miss. The drink commemorates the 250 years of American independence and has everything to do with July 4th.

The renowned brand Horse Soldier, founded just in 2015, has made a special bourbon for the celebration of Freedom 250. The whiskeymaker chose the United States’ Independence Day as the inspiration and basis for their newest whiskey.

Horse Soldier Bourbon recently unveiled the equally legendary Liberty Edition. This one-of-a-kind edition is a 13-year Kentucky Straight Bourbon. There will only be 1,776 bottles as it is a limited-edition. It commemorates the American Independence Day, which celebrates its 250th anniversary this July 4th. The White House calls it “Freedom 250.”

Bourbon with purpose

Elizabeth Pritchard-Koko, the co-founder and chief brand officer taking charge of this release, said there is a obvious connection with France:

'Each Liberty Edition bottle is formed from bespoke French glass in recognition of the Statue of Liberty’s origin. An antiqued copper label references its historic metalwork, while a radiant gold flame closure crowns the bottle.'

True to that statement, the bourbon comes in a bespoke French glass finished with a patinaed copper label, a testament to the Statue of Liberty’s French roots. It also bears a radiant golden flame closure crown that symbolizes “enlightenment, freedom, and the enduring pursuit of the American Dream.”

Opening each Liberty Edition bottle unleashes a sweet-and-rich aroma. The rye-forward flavors are bold, and as you take a sip, you get hints of warm, campfire smokiness until the finish.

What are the tasting notes of the special bourbon?

The profile of this 55% ABV (110 proof) Liberty Edition reads:

Nose: Rich caramel and vanilla lead, followed by toasted oak, dried fruit, and hints of baking spices. Plus, a touch of leather.
Palate: Smooth, featuring flavors of toffee, dark chocolate, and roasted nuts. A cinnamon spice and subtle corn sweetness bring the balance.
Finish: Long and warmy, with slightly smoky fade.
