Tamnavulin Distillery was founded in 1966, but like many whisky makers, it has weathered tough times. From that era, a remarkable whisky has now been chosen as the anniversary bottling. Striking detail: it comes from a period when the distillery had already been closed for years.

Tamnavulin shut its doors in 1995 and remained largely dormant for over 12 years. Only in 2000 was there a brief six-week revival. The stills were dusted off, fired up again, and spirit flowed into casks.

What is the Tamnavulin 25 Year Old Diamond Anniversary Limited Edition?

This whisky first matured for 20 years in American oak casks. It then underwent a five-year finish in a single Moscatel cask, adding extra fruity layers and sweet nuances.

The flavor profile is richly described. On the nose: aromas of orange, clove, poached pear, vanilla custard, and a delicate hint of balsamic.

On the palate, the distillery highlights dark chocolate raisins, citrus, heather honey, and sweet licorice. The finish brings notes of mandarin, roasted hazelnut, and chocolate-caramel ganache.

The whisky is bottled at cask strength of 51.8% alcohol by volume (ABV).
