What is Slanj Whisky?

The new whisky brand Slanj whisky was founded by the brothers Brian and Craig Halley. They also set up Slanj Kilts and are now venturing into the whisky world with their friend Stuart Montgomerie.

The brand was not set up by Game of Thrones actor Rory McCann, but he was closely involved. The Hound actor says about the whisky that it's a dram for everyone:

What does Douglas Laing have to do with Slanj whisky?

The whisky didn't appear out of thin air. To create a flavorful blend that would be accessible, the help of renowned independent bottler and whisky maker Douglas Laing was called upon.

Together with Douglas Laing, a blend of 70 percent Speyside whisky from sherry barrels and 30 percent Highland whisky from bourbon barrels was created. The bottler not only assisted in the development of the whisky, but also guarantees a sustainable supply.

Although work is already being done on other editions, it's first time to enjoy this whisky.

What does Slanj whisky taste like?

The first edition of Slanj whisky has also received extensive tasting notes right away. These were written by Charles MacLean:

Nose: Initially fruit with walnut and a clear influence of the sherry barrels. Afterwards there are notes of fruitcake, raisins and sultanas and a creamy base.
Palate: Full and rich with notes of dates and spices and a hint of pepper.
Finish: Pleasant, soft and round.

The whisky is bottled at 46 percent alcohol by volume (ABV).

Where can you buy Slanj whisky?

Slanj whisky is now available in the United Kingdom with a price tag of 47 pounds (about 55 euros). The whisky should also be released internationally, though it is unclear whether a Dutch release is on the schedule.
