For the past ten years, Arran has partnered with Bellevue Farm, a local farm near the distillery. That partnership is now being celebrated with a special single malt: Arran Barley Single Malt Batch 001.
Stewart Bowman, Distillery Manager at Isle of Arran Distillers, calls the collaboration and the project around it a milestone.
“It’s a privilege to work so closely with local producers. This whisky brings the provenance of Arran literally closer to home.”
- Stewart Bowman
The whisky is made with barley grown on the 10 hectares across two fields at Bellevue Farm. This inaugural edition focuses on the Optic barley variety, first used by the Scottish distillery in 2015.
This barley produces a thicker wort than usual, which needs more care during mashing, but yields a fruitier new make spirit.
The spirit distilled from this barley then matured for 10 years in first-fill bourbon barrels and second-fill sherry hogsheads. The whisky was bottled at 50% alcohol by volume (ABV).

The whisky comes with official tasting notes, listed below:

  • Finish: Long and well-balanced.
