Ardgowan opens its doors to whisky enthusiasts

It's been some time, but finally Ardgowan Distillery is open. The distillery is now also ready to welcome the public. It invites whisky enthusiasts from across the world to have a backstage look at Inverkip.

The independent whisky maker filled its first barrel in June and now invites visitors for tours in the distillery.

What does a tour at Ardgowan Distillery entail?

Tours at Ardgowan are held from Tuesday to Saturday at 10:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. and combine a walk through the distillery and warehouse with a tasting.

The tours are conducted by Barbara Campbell, a well-known figure in the whisky world. Campbell started het career at Glen Ord Distillery in 1990 and later became the first female brand ambassador for Diageo.

Enthusiasts can discover the history of the area, the Clydebuilt and Ardgowan whisky, and the distillery, after which they can enjoy three drams.

One of the highlights during the tours is Ardgowan's Infinity Cask. This cask, designed in collaboration with Bodegas Miguel Martín and Master of Wood Stuart MacPherson, is intended for an extra-long maturation of at least 18 years.

Exclusive whisky shopping

Subsequently, everyone is welcome in the distillery shop. There not only can you find the complete Clydebuilt assortment, but also an exclusive bottling that is not available anywhere else: the Clydebuilt 2012 Pedro Ximénez Hogshead Single Cask. A bottle costs 85 pounds, roughly around 100 euros.

Fun Fact: Ardgowan's Infinity Cask is a first in the whisky world and the first new cask format in years.
