Bruichladdich The Laddie Rye
The Bruichladdich distillery has ventured into new territory: rye whisky. The distillery has unveiled a new take on The Laddie made primarily with rye. The Laddie Rye 7 Year Old, however, won’t be released everywhere.
FAQ
  • Where is the Bruichladdich distillery located?
    On the Scottish island Islay.
  • What kind of whisky does Bruichladdich usually make?
    Scotch Single malt whisky.
  • What is Bruichladdich The Laddie Rye 7 Year Old?
A special rye whisky made only for the United States.
Bruichladdich The Laddie Rye 7 Year Old is crafted from ingredients grown by 15 different farms. Most of the whisky (55%) is made from rye grown on Islay. The remainder (45%) of the spirit is made with malted barley. That makes it officially a rye whisky—a first for the distillery.
The whisky was matured for seven years in a combination of first-fill bourbon casks and various virgin American oak casks. It was then bottled at 50% alcohol by volume (ABV).

What does Bruichladdich The Laddie Rye 7 Year Old taste like?

This new Scotch whisky has a completely different character from the distillery’s other releases. The tasting notes reveal layers of caramel, coconut and vanilla, honey, a touch of cinnamon, and pepper on the nose.
On the palate, expect flavors of freshly baked bread, honey and vanilla, alongside notes of cashew and walnut. The rye whisky finishes long and warming, with spicy accents.

The new Bruichladdich is launching in only one country

The distillery created this whisky specifically for the United States. The suggested retail price is 59.99 dollars per bottle. The rye whisky will only be available in the United States and won’t reach Europe, at least at first. Bruichladdich did not mention if the whisky will be released in more countries in a later stadium.
