Is Bowmore about to unveil a striking new bottle?

An intriguing bottle has surfaced in the online database for whisky labels: Bowmore Snarkitecture 20 Year Old. The label points to a brand-new series, suggesting Bowmore is heading in a bold new direction.

The online TTB database regularly logs new labels for whiskies. Distilleries and producers submit them with an eye toward a potential future release. While many of these bottles do make it to shelves shortly afterward, some never progress beyond the label stage.

The Scottish Bowmore Distillery has registered a fresh label for a possible whisky release. The label for Bowmore Snarkitecture points to a brand-new series in which the distillery appears set to embark on a journey of discovery later this year.

At first glance, the Bowmore Snarkitecture label looks like a joke. The name doesn’t sound particularly serious, yet it appears exactly that way on the label. In fact, it’s a nod to a collaboration between the brand and New York art collective Snarkitecture.

The label doesn’t reveal much else about the whisky. What is clear is that it’s the first edition within the Captivo Collection. This is set to be an experimental range in which the distillery explores different wood types for maturing its whisky.

The flavor profile and the specific wood type used for this whisky are not disclosed on the label.

Unfortunately, it’s also unclear exactly when Bowmore has scheduled the new release. Sometimes a label is filed in the TTB database before the whisky has a firm date.

Thankfully, there is at least a hint on this label: in small print it notes 2026. We’ll have to wait and see when in that year the Bowmore single malt makes its debut. The price of the single malt has also not yet been announced.
