Kanosuke introduces a peated expression to the Component Series

The Japanese Kanosuke Distillery is moving quickly to expand its whisky range. It’s kicking off 2026 with a new Japanese whisky in the Component Series: the Kanosuke Peated Component.

The Kanosuke Peated Component is the latest addition to the whisky series launched by the Japanese distillery in 2025. Each release is designed to give whisky lovers a glimpse into the building blocks of Kanosuke’s single malt whiskies.

Think of it as a flavorful journey toward a future single malt that brings together every element from the Component Series.

The first releases in the line were whiskies matured in bourbon, sherry, and shochu casks. Now comes a whisky that adds smoke to the flavor profile.

Japanese peat with a gentle signature

The smoke character in Kanosuke’s single malt isn’t overpowering or medicinal. It’s a softer, more restrained smokiness that lingers in the background, woven through a delicate and elegant profile.

The distillery notes that maritime influences and sweet tones play a key role in the whisky. Unfortunately, they haven’t disclosed which casks the Kanosuke Peated whisky matured in. What is clear, however, is how it tastes.

What does the Kanosuke Component Series Peated taste like?

Tasting notes for the Kanosuke Component Series Peated are as follows:

Nose: Notes of gentle smoke, apricot syrup, pineapple candy, with a maritime hint. Accented by the aroma of lightly smoked pickle.

Palate: Apple jam and marmalade, followed by candied citrus, salted caramel, and nikki (Japanese cinnamon).

Finish: Lightly tart, soft, and fruity, with a calm maritime freshness that lingers.

The Japanese whisky is bottled at 50% alcohol by volume (ABV).

Where can you buy Kanosuke whisky?

The Kanosuke Peated Component whisky is available in 200 ml bottles at the distillery. The suggested retail price is around 4,620 JPY, which comes to approximately 25.21 euros.
