Japanese whisky from shochu casks
The Kanosuke Distillery continues its collaboration with the Hioki Distillery in 2025, to together release a flavorful
Japanese whisky. The distilleries are bottling under the Kanosuke label a whisky that not only originates from two distilleries but also aged in three different casks for a complex flavor profile.
The Japanese spirit first matured in recharred ex-shochu casks. Then it was transferred to sherry casks, and finally, back to other recharred shochu casks for a finish.
An additional third type of cask was then introduced. The whisky is blended with Hioki whisky from rum barrels. The result is a deep, spicy whisky with subtle Japanese sweetness.

When does the Kanosuke Double Distillery 2025 whisky come out?
The Japanese whisky officially debuts on September 25, 2025, in
Japan. The
price per bottle is 18,700 yen, or roughly 110 euros. Whether the whisky will come to Europe and thus the Netherlands has not been announced. It is clear, however, that the edition will be limited.
