FAQ
  • What exactly is Lochlea launching?
A new core range of three single malts, alongside the well-loved Our Barley.
  • When are they available?
    Starting Thursday, September 4, 2025.
  • What makes this range special?
Each whisky is 100% Single Estate: own barley, own distillation, own warehouses. Naturally colourized, non-chill filtered, and all bottled at 46% ABV.
Lochlea Distillery reveals a brand-new core range of a total of four whiskies. In addition to the well-known Our Barley whisky from the distillery, three other whiskies are all crafted from their own barley and distilled and matured on-site.

What are the four core whiskies of Lochlea?

  • Lochlea Our Barley
  • Lochlea Orchard & Oak
  • Lochlea Dark Briar
  • Lochlea Smoke Without Fire

What is the Lochlea Orchard & Oak single malt whisky?

The first new whisky in Lochlea Distillery's core range is a fresh and fruity malt that immediately brings the sun into your glass. The whisky matured in first-fill Bourbon, Virgin American Oak, and Calvados barrels.
The whisky's flavor profile features notes of juicy apple, creamy caramel, and sweet oak, finished with a touch of grass and a soft spicy finish. The whisky is bottled at 46 percent alcohol by volume (ABV).

Meet the Lochlea Dark Briar whisky

In addition to the light Orchard & Oak, there's a dark whisky. The Dark Briar is inspired by the Fallow Edition and matured in PX, Oloroso, and Port barrels.
The whisky is warming and rich with notes of ripe red fruits, ginger cake, and velvety spices. This Lochlea also is bottled at 46 percent ABV.

Smoke Without Fire

Sometimes, smoke doesn't necessarily mean fire. This is proven by Lochlea with the Smoke Without Fire whisky. This is a subtly peated whisky made based on the Ploughing Edition.
The whisky matured in ex-peated refill Bourbon and red wine barrels. In terms of flavor, expect soft red fruits, floral sweetness, and campfire smoke.

When are the new Lochlea whiskies released?

The new core range of Lochlea will be available from September 4. The prices of the bottles will also be revealed then. The single estate whiskies are sold through the Scottish distillery's website.
