The Clydeside Distillery appears to have a new whisky waiting in the wings: Clydeside 8 Years Old Small Batch. The bottling has surfaced via a label filing in the US TTB database. While that means the whisky hasn’t been officially announced yet, the key details on the label already give a clear idea of what to expect.
Clydeside 8 Years Old is a Lowland single malt Scotch whisky, distilled in 2018 according to the label. It then spent eight years maturing in Oloroso sherry casks. That makes it the oldest release to date from the Glasgow distillery, which is part of Morrison Glasgow Distillers.
The robust strength is also notable. The label further states that it’s natural colour and non-chill filtered. That will appeal to enthusiasts who prefer whisky in its purest form, without chill filtration and with no added colouring.

Tasting notes from the label

The tasting notes on the label clearly point to the influence of the Oloroso sherry casks. On the nose, you’ll find fruit notes like sticky raspberry and strawberry, paired with treacle toffee, suggesting a rich, sweet profile with red fruits and dark caramel tones.
On the palate, the label highlights tropical fruit and bright marmalade. That combination promises a lively interplay of ripe fruit, citrusy freshness, and deep sherry character. The finish is described as warming spice.
As for strength, the single malt is listed at 55.5% Alcohol by volume (ABV).

When will Clydeside 8 Years Old be released?

It’s not yet clear when the Clydeside 8 Years Old will be officially released. A filing in the TTB database usually indicates a bottling is planned, though it doesn’t guarantee an immediate launch.
It’s also not yet confirmed whether this Clydeside single malt whisky will make its way worldwide or just for specific markets like the United Kingdom.
