Whisky Names Explained. In this column, we explain the origin of a whisky name every week. Note: we've switched this column with the best whisky deals because many whisky specials start after the weekend and we can hence provide you with better information.
Today, we are discussing a limited edition, specifically The
Glenmorangie A Tale of The Forest. A bottle that came out not too long ago and costs about a hundred euros. A hefty sum, but it is indeed a beautiful bottle. Admit it: if you see someone sporting a flashy dress or blouse, you may take a second look, right? The same is true for this bottle. The entire box is laden with a stunning print that you simply want to feast your eyes on for more than just a few seconds. The print symbolizes the forest, thus honoring the whisky's name.
Where does the name Glenmorangie A Tale of The Forest come from?
The question, of course, in this
whisky names explained series, is where does the name of the whisky come from? Apparently, the creator of the whisky, Dr. Bill, would wander home through the woods many mornings. Each time he did this, he would notice new things, like the scent of the past night's rain or a certain rustle of leaves. The following can be read on the bottle's packaging.
'Captivated by the notion of a whisky steeped in the scents, sights and sounds of the forest, Dr Bill brought back an ancient method of kilning barley with botanicals - in this case, juniper berries, birch bark and the heather blossom.
It sounds like a whisky fitting these chilly days when our landscape is characterized by leaves already fallen from the trees. This might not be so different in Scotland, where the whisky comes from.
How much does the whisky cost?
The Glenmorangie A Tale of The Forest is available at various locations even though it's a limited edition.
