The Morrison family is back in the whisky world with the debut of the first Aberargie whisky. Enthusiasts in Alkmaar have already had a sneak taste, but it’s now officially released. Here’s everything you need to know.
In Perthshire, Scotland, Aberargie Distillery has launched its very first single malt Scotch whisky. This inaugural release not only marks the return of the renowned Morrison family of whisky makers, but also unveils a brand-new distillery with a whisky of its own.

What kind of whisky is Aberargie?

Aberargie’s first whisky is crafted from a mash bill of 52% Golden Promise barley and 48% Laureate barley. Both varieties are grown on the family’s farm.
The Morrison family owns an estate of more than 300 hectares where every stage of the whisky’s journey takes place. The grain is cultivated there, the whisky is distilled and matured on the estate, and finally bottled on the same grounds. This is far more than just another single malt.
After distillation, the spirit was laid down in first-fill bourbon and first-fill sherry casks to mature. With this, the distillery has immediately established a layered and balanced house style.
Niel Hendriksz, managing director of the Aberargie Distillery, mentioned the patience of the distillery.
'After nearly a decade, the moment feels right to share Aberargie Single Malt Inaugural with the world. It’s a true barley-to-bottle single malt that honours the Morrison family’s distilling heritage while setting a clear direction for the future.'
