Heaven Hill Celebrates 90 Years of Craftsmanship with a Special Old Bourbon

Heaven Hill is celebrating its 90th anniversary this year, and that calls for a fitting new bourbon. The distillery has something special in store for whiskey lovers with a soft spot for bourbon: the Heaven Hill 90th Anniversary Bourbon.

Heaven Hill is marking nine decades with a series of exclusive releases. The whiskey maker has already launched an Old Fitzgerald 7 Year Old, an Old Fitz VVS 11 Year Old, and a Master Distillers Unity whiskey. That impressive lineup was followed by an Elijah Craig Barrel Proof Rye, and now it’s time for a special Anniversary bourbon.

Conor O’Driscoll, Master Distiller at Heaven Hill Distillery, shared the following about the whiskey:

The new whiskey bottled for the distillery’s birthday is the Heaven Hill Anniversary Bourbon. This bourbon is 9 years old and comes from 204 barrels, all filled with spirit distilled on December 13, 2015.

The spirit uses a mash bill of 78% corn, 12% malted barley, and 10% rye. Heaven Hill also uses this recipe for whiskeys like Elijah Craig and Henry McKenna.

The barrels share many characteristics, but there’s one key difference: they feature different char levels. Seventy percent of the barrels received a No. 3 char (a medium char), while the rest were given a heavy “alligator char.” Those barrels lend extra depth and character, resulting in a standout flavor.

The whiskey is bottled at 53.5% alcohol by volume (ABV), or 107 proof.

This special bourbon is available exclusively in the United States. The release is limited (the exact number of bottles is unknown). The price is 125 dollars per bottle.
