The first whisky revealed is the Nikka From the Barrel Extra Marriage Edition. This is a whisky that comes in the original square bottle, but with a silver-colored label. The Japanese whisky in the bottle is also different from the original lifesaver.

This special whisky has been aged twice as long in the barrels, making it significantly older. The blend of over 100 whiskies has thus become more deep and complex than ever before.

The tasting notes include beeswax, iris butter, toasted pineapple, and nutmeg on the nose, and a combination of medicinal notes, smoke, and citrus on the palate. The whisky is bottled at 51.4 percent alcohol by volume (ABV).

A whisky puzzle as a gift set

Along with the Marriage Edition, Nikka has one more surprise for enthusiasts. A special gift set has been assembled, consisting of three bottles.

Malt Pieces of the Barrel: Powerful, smoky, with spices, fruit, and medicinal notes.
Grain Pieces of the Barrel: Creamy and round, with hints of vanilla, fruit, and floral accents.
Extra Marriage: An all-encompassing piece, combining all elements.

According to Nikka, the set provides a ‘rare insight into the heart of From The Barrel’.

The Nikka From the Barrel Marriage Edition and the Gift set are being sold at select retailers such as La Maison du Whisky. The set is priced just under 300 euros and the Extra Marriage bottle has a price tag of around 55 euros. The bottles will be available from late September onwards.
