Ten years ago, Teeling Whiskey reignited the flame in Dublin and put Irish whiskey back on the map. To mark the anniversary, the distillery is unveiling a special bottle that lets you taste Dublin’s history while basking in the warmth of the Spanish sun.

When Jack and Stephen Teeling opened their distillery in Dublin’s Liberties in 2015, it was the first new whiskey distillery in 125 years. They didn’t just bring the Teeling name home to Dublin: they breathed new life into the whiskey industry.

What began as an ambitious project has grown in a decade into an icon of the whiskey world. Jack Teeling is immensely proud of the milestone they’ve reached.

A year-long whiskey celebration

Earlier this year, the distillery kicked off its anniversary festivities in the best way it knows how: with a special birthday whiskey, the Teeling Birthday Batch.

This bottling was crafted from Irish whiskey drawn from Teeling’s oldest casks and sold out almost immediately after launch. For those who missed out, there’s now another release that’s every bit as special: the Teeling Limited Edition Sommelier Selection Rioja.

What is the Teeling Limited Edition Sommelier Selection Rioja whiskey?

The Teeling Limited Edition Sommelier Selection Rioja Whiskey is the seventh release in the award-winning series, marrying the Irish nectar of the gods with fresh influences. Teeling previously used French, Italian, and Portuguese wine casks for the series. Now it’s Spain’s turn.

As always, the whiskey is built on Teeling Small Batch. It then undergoes an extended finishing period in Spanish casks from the Rioja region. The result is a silky whiskey with vibrant flavors that transport you straight to Spain’s wine country.

What are the tasting notes for the new Teeling Sommelier Selection?

The whiskey comes with detailed tasting notes:

Nose: Strawberry compote, cherries, delicate cinnamon spice, and caramel sweetness.

Palate: Dark berries, butterscotch, black pepper, and nutmeg.

Finish: Long, luxurious finish with dry tannins, a hint of minerality, honey, and a touch of dark chocolate.

Where can you buy the new Teeling whiskey?

The Teeling Sommelier Selection Rioja will be available from late November 2025 at selected liquor stores and specialty shops across the Netherlands and Belgium. The price per bottle is around 55 euros. This release is limited, so move quickly if you want to experience this delicious whiskey.
