What’s planned for Dutch Whisky Week in Drenthe?

We’re mapping out Dutch Whisky Week activities for you, province by province. After covering Groningen and Friesland, today it’s Drenthe’s turn.

Some provinces are brimming with distilleries, think Limburg or Overijssel, but Drenthe is a little quieter. Still, it’s home to a wonderful micro-distillery: Drumlin Distillery.

Run by Erik Poutsma, this distillery bottles its whiskies at never less than 50% alcohol by volume. Drumlin has its devotees too: fans who snap up each new release without fail.

Drumlin Distillery is hosting two activities during Dutch Whisky Week. On January 30 from 4:00 PM, enthusiasts can join an in-depth whisky tasting. You’ll sample four vintages of Cromlach: 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023. It’s a rare treat: tasting across vintages to discover how the whisky evolves year by year. Do they keep getting better? Decide for yourself!

Looking for a broader journey that also ventures into gin and rum? Then mark January 31 in your calendar. Whichever option you choose, you’ll take home a keepsake: both experiences include a tasting glass etched with the Drumlin Distillery logo.
