Everything You Need to Know About the Royal Salute 21 Year Old Rio de Janeiro Edition

Every year sees a new release in the Royal Salute Polo series. This year, the brand journey takes us to Brazil with the Royal Salute 21 Year Old Rio de Janeiro Edition.

With the arrival of the Rio de Janeiro edition, Royal Salute's whisky series now features seven bottles, each honoring a distinct polo city. Previous releases celebrated Miami (United States), Jodhpur (India), and Estancia (Philippines).

The newest release honors the polo capital of the world, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The 21-year-old whisky is the creation of Sandy Hyslop, Master Blender at Royal Salute. This expression boasts whisky from American oak barrels and malt whisky from the Braeval Distillery's first-fill barrels.

Hyslop has added the latter whisky to confer a unique tone to the Royal Salute whisky rooted in Brazil.

According to Hyslop, the blended malt presents vibrant notes and a creamy sweetness, reminiscent of a complicated dance.

The Master Blender identifies flavours of fruity, floral, and grassy notes, along with sweet nuances of vanilla and coconut.

The whisky is bottled in a green bottle, fittingly reverberating the colours of Brazil. Yellow accents are also featured, including the letters on the bottle. The gold-coloured cap serves to reinforce luxury.

The expression is globally launched in a limited edition. The total number of bottles is not disclosed. The recommended retail price per bottle is $190, approximately 176 euros at the current exchange rate.

The liquor stores which would be offering Royal Salute 21 Year Old Rio de Janeiro for sale have not been revealed.
