Ballina Whiskey
There’s a good chance you haven’t heard of Ballina Distillery yet. It’s a brand-new name in the whiskey world but not a new distillery. Ballina is the new name for the Connacht Distillery, which has been making whiskey in County Mayo, Ireland since 2015.
FAQ
  • What is Ballina Whiskey?
An Irish whiskey distilled by the former Connacht Distillery.
  • What is the new name of Connacht Distillery?
    Ballina Distillery.
  • Where is Ballina Distillery located?
    In County Mayo, Ireland.
In 2015, County Mayo welcomed its first whiskey-making distillery in 150 years. The new operation was embraced wholeheartedly and set to work crafting Ireland’s nectar of the gods.
Not long after, in 2024, Terroirs Distillers, owners of Tullibardine Distillery, Highland Queen, and Muirhead’s Scotch Whisky, came knocking. The company acquired the distillery and its whisky stocks and began a full rebrand.
The finishing touches have now been made, and we can raise a glass to a brand-new whiskey label: Ballina Whiskey.

Two Ballina whiskeys unveiled right out of the gate

Under its new banner, the distillery has announced two releases: Ballina Dúbailte Double Wood and Ballina Triarach Triple Wood.
Mike Elliott, Managing Director at the Irish distillery, is delighted to launch under the new name:
“We’re thrilled to announce that our first two single malts are ready to be enjoyed around the world. Over the past year, our small distillery team has worked tirelessly to create a single malt that truly stands out within the Irish whiskey category for both flavor and the craftsmanship behind it.”
