Bruichladdich Gives a Nod to Islay’s Farmers with a Special Old Skool Whisky

The Bruichladdich Distillery owes a great deal to the farmers it works with. That’s why the distillery regularly honors them with a special whisky. Now, a future classic seems to be on the way: Bruichladdich Old Skool 10 Year Old whisky.

New whisky labels are regularly logged in the online TTB database. Distilleries and whisky makers do this in preparation for a potential future release. While many of these spirits appear on shelves not long after, sometimes it never goes beyond a label.

The label reveals that the distillery has a true old skool whisky in the works. With the release of Bruichladdich Old Skool 10 Year Old, the Scottish distillery underscores its deep-rooted bond with the island of Islay.

It also tips its hat to the farmers who cultivate their crops there through all kinds of weather. This limited edition single malt whisky is not only a tribute to the local farmers, but also to the unique terroir that has made Islay famous worldwide.

The whisky’s label takes center stage, visually telling the story behind the bottle. It’s a vintage-looking label that features a map of Islay on the back, with the island’s farms marked out.

This whisky is distilled in honor of the 25th anniversary of the distillery’s reopening. When Bruichladdich reopened, it forged many partnerships with local farmers and they’re all being celebrated here.

For this whisky, the distillery used barley from no fewer than 10 different farms. Exactly which farms isn’t specified, but other details have been shared.

The whisky is bottled at 50% alcohol by volume. It will also be a limited release, though the number of bottles is unknown.

The price and release date for Bruichladdich Old Skool 10 Year Old Islay Single Malt whisky have not been announced. As always with labels, they indicate what a distillery is working on, but there’s no guarantee it will actually be released.
