What’s on during Dutch Whisky Week in the Province of Utrecht?

We’ve been talking about it for a while now: Dutch Whisky Week is coming up. Many distilleries across the country are opening their doors, and we’re sharing what’s happening in each province. Today, we’re zooming in on the province of Utrecht.

Utrecht is home to two distilleries that will be opening their doors during Dutch Whisky Week:

Here’s what each distillery has planned for Dutch Whisky Week.

Keuris Distillery in Woerden invites you to a delicious whisky experience during Dutch Whisky Week. In this artisanal distillery, tucked away in the Green Heart, founder John Keuris takes you behind the scenes of distillation.

On Tuesday, January 27, you can join a tour with tasting, where you’ll learn all about crafting grain distillates and maturing spirits in oak casks, interspersed with tastings of various whiskies and other distillates.

On Wednesday, January 28, you’ll have the chance to dive even deeper with a masterclass on whisky-making, from grain to glass. Naturally, there will be plenty to taste.

Keuris is known for its passion for sustainable production, using locally grown ingredients and traditional methods. These events are perfect for whisky lovers who want to better understand the process while enjoying flavourful Dutch whisky.

The Chamberick in Kamerik has lined up two special whisky experiences for Dutch Whisky Week. On January 29, you can take part in the unique event Mashing at The Chamberick.

You’ll get hands-on with the beginning of every drop of whisky: mashing in the Scottish tradition with 100% malted barley. Under the guidance of master distiller Laetitia de Hoog, you’ll stir the mash tun, check temperatures and conversion, and see the stills in action.

The morning wraps up with lunch, a mini tasting of whisky, gin, and liqueurs, plus stories from inside the distillery.

On January 30, there’s a cask maturation masterclass in the whisky cellar, where Laetitia takes you behind the scenes of the aging process. You’ll learn how wood shapes whisky—and taste a single malt straight from the cask.

Both experiences are small-scale, hands-on, and ideal for anyone eager to delve deeper into the craft of Dutch whisky.
